The
Twenty Top Television Personalities
#5 Joan Collins:
Long before Leona Helmsley and Tammy Faye
Baaker, there was Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan,
the character played by Joan Collins on ABC's Dynasty. And
Collins played her to the hilt. Alexis was the super-career
woman, scheming villainess and campy sex goddess all rolled
into one. She would roll between the sheets with a secession
of (Mostly Younger) lovers. Alexis was also a shrewd business
woman - and so is Collins. She capitalized on her Dynasty
fame by coming out with her own line of cosmetics. She wrote
a best selling autobiography and, rivaling her sister, Hollywood
Wives author Jackie Collins, she even wrote a Steamy Hollywood
novel (Prime Time), She's had a series of well-publicized
marriages and liaisons. her life is a soap opera. And now,
Prime Time is going to be a movie. Guess who has a starring
role?
The Twenty
Top Shows of the Decade-
#4 Dynasty
(ABC 1981-1989)
The elegant estates, fancy weddings and nolan Miller;s designer
outfits made Dynasty the most fun of all the prime time soaps
to watch. It was also the wickedest - thanks to Joan Collins'
bravura portrayal of the insatiably scheming Alexis. The show
grew so fat with intrigues that a spin-off, The Colby's, was
created. Dynasty had its campy excesses (Those crazy catfights
between Krystle and Alexis) Still, we watched - and wallowed
- in guilty pleasure.
